About Xaluritamig
Xaluritamig is an investigational new immunotherapy drug. Immunotherapy helps a person’s own immune system find and attack cancer cells.
One approach to immunotherapy is lab-made antibodies. Antibodies are substances normally made by the immune system. Lab-made antibodies can be designed to attack a very specific part of a cancer cell. A number of antibody-based drugs have been approved for different cancers.
Xaluritamig is a type of antibody-based drug called a T-cell engager. Xaluritamig has been designed to lock onto a prostate cancer cell and to a cancer-killing immune cell called a T cell. When the connection is made, the T cell is activated to release destructive substances. With the T cell engaged at close range, the destructive substances are aimed at the prostate cancer cell.
Important Safety Concerns
Xaluritamig is designed to help the immune system attack cancer cells. This attack can cause inflammation that can make you feel very sick or affect your brain and nerves.
You may be prescribed medicine to help prevent inflammation. Take it as directed. Your study doctor will explain what symptoms to watch out for. You’ll get a Patient Safety Flyer with information to take home as a reminder. Always call your study doctor if anything is bothering you so you can be given the appropriate care.
